READING, Pa. – The Cabrini University women's lacrosse team opened its 2023 season with a 17-2 drubbing of Albright College Saturday afternoon on the road at Shirk Stadium.

The Cavaliers (1-0) got on the board first as graduate student Olivia Little netted her first of eight goals on the day at the 12:12 mark. Seven seconds later, after Little won the draw, Shea Neary scored Cabrini's second goal of the match to take a 2-0 lead. At the 5:01 mark, Albright put their first of two scores on the board to make it a 3-1 Cavs lead. Cabrini ended the first quarter with five straight goals as Little netted two of them for a hat trick and Cabrini led 8-1 after one quarter. In the second, the Cavs found the back of the net four more times, with Little putting it through the posts twice more and Cabrini held a 12-2 lead headed into intermission.

Out of the break, the Cavs took until the 5:26 mark in the third for Neary to net Cabrini's 13th goal and then another four minutes for Little to score her sixth goal of the contest. Cabrini entered the fourth with the contest well in hand as the Cavs held a 14-2 advantage, but the Blue and White was not done as Little scored Cabrini's 15th goal and her eighth of the contest. Maggie Cella and Anissa Serafine rounded out the day's scoring as the Cella netted goal No. 16 with Serafine's being No. 17.

Little finished with eight goals on nine shots on goal with three ground balls. Caroline Gallagher and Abbey Fenton each finished with four ground balls while Morgan McClintock had four caused turnovers to lead the defense.

The Cabrini women's lacrosse team will be back in action on Tuesday, Feb. 21 as the Cavs head to Haverford College for a non-conference match against the Fords. First draw is set for 4 p.m.
