RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini University women's lacrosse team netted 21 goals to get back in the win column Thursday afternoon as the Cavaliers topped George Fox University 21-11 in a non-conference match-up.
The Cavaliers (5-4) opened the scoring in the first quarter when
Shea Neary found the back of the net at the 12:12 mark. The Bruins answered back with one of their own, but Cabrini took the lead for good right after as the Cavs scored four straight goals to go ahead 5-1. After Marena Tharpe scored George Fox's second goal,
Caroline Gallagher began another four-goal barrage as Cabrini led 9-2 after one quarter. In the second, the George Fox offense came to life as the Bruins cut the Cabrini lead to just four after outscoring the Cavs 6-3 in the period, but Cabrini took a 12-8 lead into intermission.
At the beginning of the third, the Bruins cut the Cavs lead to three, but back-to-back goals from
Olivia Little and Gallagher sparked a five-goal run from the Cavs and extended Cabrini's lead to 17-9 with 4:43 left in the third quarter. In the fourth, the Cavs defense held the Bruins to just one goal while the offense netted four more and helped the Blue and White cruise to a 21-11 win.
Little tallied six goals and three assists on the afternoon for nine points total. Thursday's contest was the third time this season the senior recorded six goals or more and nine points or more in one game. Four other Cavaliers finished with a hat trick as Gallagher,
Maggie Cella,
Morgan McClintock, and
Olivia Pace all tallied three goals.
The Cavaliers return to action on Saturday, April 1 as Cabrini heads to the Electric City for its first Atlantic East Conference matchup of the season. First draw is set for 1 p.m.
