Cavaliers roll past Marywood in Atlantic East opener

SCRANTON, Pa. – Eight players found the back of the net at least once Saturday afternoon as the Cabrini University women's lacrosse team topped Marywood University 15-5 on the road.

The Cavaliers (6-4) jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead after Olivia Little netted the first goal of the contest at the 12:46 mark. Olivia Pace followed suit with a goal of her own one minute later, on an assist from Maggie Cella. Cassidy Starner, Morgan McClintock, and Cella each scored as the Cavs held a 5-0 lead after one quarter. In the second, the Cavs scored three more times before Marywood's Emma Solomon found the back of the Cabrini net on a free position shot. The Cavs answered right away with four straight goals and took a 12-1 lead into the intermission.

In the third, Little scored Cabrini's fifth in a row as she extended the Cabrini lead to 13-1. The Pacers cut into the Cavs lead as Marywood scored thrice before the end of the third, but Cabrini held a commanding 13-4 lead headed to the fourth. The Pacers managed a single goal in the final quarter, but Shea Neary and Anissa Serafine put the game on ice as the pair each scored in the quarter and put the Cavs up 15-5 to seal Cabrini's first conference win of the year.

Cella finished the day with three goals, her first-career hat trick, and two assists as she tallied five points on the day. McClintock, Pace, and Starner each scored twice in the win while Little and Marissa Mullan also tallied two goals and added two assists for four points each.

The Cavaliers return to action on Wednesday, April 4 as Cabrini hosts Neumann University for an Atlantic East Conference bout. First draw is set for 4 p.m.
