IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Cabrini University baseball team dropped the first game of a three-game set with the Mighty Macs Friday afternoon as the Cavaliers fell 4-3 on the road.
Friday's game proved to be a pitcher's duel through the first three innings of action until Cabrini broke through in the top half of the fourth. After
Sean Glatts reached on an infield single to load the bases,
Ryan Dipper knocked in a pair with a two-run single to right field to give the Cavs a 2-0 advantage. The lead did not hold up for long as the Macs plated four runs in the home half of the fourth to take a 4-2 lead.
In the sixth, Cabrini made it a one-run game as
Brady Campbell drew a base on balls with the bases loaded to force in a run but that was all the Cavs mustered as a pair of K's ended the rally for Cabrini.
Right-hander
Ryan Brown came on in relief of starter
Andrew Smith in the fourth and shut down the Immaculata offense. The sophomore tossed the final 4 and 2/3 innings as he held the Macs scoreless, allowing just two hits.
The Cavs and the Mighty Macs resume their series on Saturday, April 15 at Cabrini Carroll Field. First pitch was moved up from noon to 11 a.m. due to impending inclement weather.
