HOBOKEN, N.J. – The Cabrini University women's lacrosse team dropped a midweek, non-conference contest to the No. 24-ranked Ducks of Stevens Institute of Technology Wednesday evening on the road.
Cabrini got out to a 1-0 lead in the first minute and a half of the game, but Stevens answered back just 30 seconds later at the 13:01 mark to knot match at 1-1. The No. 24-ranked Ducks then rattled off five straight goals to end the first period with a 6-1 advantage. In the second,
Olivia Little found the back of the Stevens net twice, but the Ducks netted one more of their own and took a 7-2 lead into the break.
The Ducks opened the third with goals at 14:31 and 7:51 on the clock, but
Olivia Pace cut the deficit to five goals with her first score of the game at the 6:30 mark. Stevens responded with one more, but
Maggie Cella scored the Cavs fifth goal to put the deficit back at five headed to final period. In the fourth, the Cavs scored three unanswered goals as Little netted her third and
Anissa Serafine scored twice to cut the Cavs deficit to 10-8. This was the closest Cabrini would come as the Ducks scored once more before the final horn top Cabrini 11-8.
Saturday's game was Little's 10th game this season with three or more goals while Serafine and Cella each scored twice.
The Cavaliers return to action on Saturday, April 22 as Cabrini hosts Marymount in an Atlantic East Conference matchup. First draw is set for 1 p.m.
