RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini University women's lacrosse team remained unbeaten at home in 2023 as the Cavaliers topped the University of Scranton 13-9 in a non-conference matchup Tuesday night.
The Cavaliers got out to an early 5-0 lead in the first period as
Shea Neary began the night's scoring just 42 seconds into the contest on an assist from
Marissa Mullan. Mullan,
Olivia Little, and Neary then went back-to-back-to-back to give the Cavs a 4-0 lead at the 7:13 mark. By the 5:53 mark,
Olivia Pace extended Cabrini's lead to 5-0. In the second, the Royals responded with three straight goals to make it a 5-3 game with 2:10 left before the break, but with three seconds left,
Maggie Cella connected with Neary who scored her third goal of the game and sent the Cavs into intermission with a 6-3 lead.
Out of the break, the Cavs and Royals traded goals to start the third, but consecutive Scranton goals at the 7:49 and 7:10 mark made it a two-score game. The Cavs answered with four straight of their own to take a 12-6 edge into the fourth quarter. Little led off the final period with Cabrini's 13th goal and despite three fourth quarter goals from the Royals, the Cavs held on for their 11th win of the year and seventh consecutive home win.
Little and Neary each finished with a hat trick while Mullan tallied five assists on the night.
The Cavaliers return to action on Wednesday, April 26 as Cabrini heads to Gwynedd Mercy for the squad's final regular season game. First draw is set for 4 p.m.
