GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. –The Cabrini University women's lacrosse team secured the No. 1 seed in the 2023 Atlantic East Conference tournament as the Cavaliers topped Gwynedd Mercy 18-1 Wednesday afternoon on the road. 
 
The Cavaliers scored seven goals in the opening period of Wednesday's contest as Olivia Little opened the day's scoring with a goal just 12 seconds into the game. Olivia Pace followed Little with consecutive goals before Caroline Gallagher got in on the action with the Cavs fourth goal before the 10:00 mark. Cabrini tacked on three more goals to end the quarter and entered the second with a 7-0 lead. In the second, Cabrini's lead ballooned to 14-0 before halftime as the Cavs scored seven more times highlighted by two goals from Morgan McClintock. 
 
In the third, McClintock recorded her fourth goal of the contest at the 13:11 mark followed by the Cavs 16th goal of the game from Maggie Cella at the 11:40 mark. Neve Murphy netted Cabrini's 17th goal before the end of the third and Sophie Sabocinski scored her second goal of the year in the fourth as Cabrini cruised to an 18-1 win. 
 
McClintock's four goals led the offense for the Cavs while Little tallied three assists on the day. 

In the win, Shea Neary set a new program record for caused turnovers with 153 and counting, passing the previous record of 149.

With the No. 1 seed, the Cavaliers secured a bye into the second round and will host an Atlantic East Conference semifinals game on Wednesday, May 3 at a time to be determined.
