The Cabrini University Men's Soccer team defeated York College of Pennsylvania by a final score of 1-0 in their last home opener at Edith Robb Dixon Field.
In a physical game, Cabrini controlled possession for the majority of the first half with 5 shots on goal and 2 corner kicks. However, neither team was able to find the back of the net in the first half.
York came out strong after the break, forcing the first seven corner kicks of the second half, including four within the 52-second minute. The Cavalier defense stood strong allowing only one shot on goal when Spartan Tyler Howlett missed a shot on goal wide left.
Cabrini gained momentum in the 78
th-minute when senior
Matt Duddy found the back of the net on a pass from
Nolan Holloway to give the Cavs the 1-0 lead.
"It's an electric atmosphere," said senior
Matt Duddy. "There is nothing more that we want to do this year than deliver win after win this year and have a great season."
The Cavaliers would not relinquish the lead and won their first opener since 2021.
Cabrini returns home on Sunday at 1 p.m. when they face the Delaware Valley Aggies.
