Game Recap: Soccer (Women) |

Widener Gets the Better of Women’s Soccer

Chester, PA - On Wednesday Night, Cabrini Women's Soccer traveled to face the Pride of Widener University.

Widener found the back of the net early, earning their first goal eleven minutes into the contest.

Cabrini battled throughout the game, holding their opponent scoreless for over an hour of game time. Caroline Hassall aided in the Cavs defensive efforts, facing twenty shots and recording eight saves on the night.

With just under five minutes remaining, Widener iced the game with their second goal of the match. Both scores were unassisted.

A late Cavalier shot missed wide, awarding the Pride a 2-0 victory.

Following the match, Coach Ken Prothero offered his thoughts. "We played well against a very formidable opponent. Widener came out strong right out of the gate and put one in early. Our team battled back and almost equalized a few times. Keepers for both squads had some unbelievable saves."

Results withstanding, Prothero continues his praise of the program. "I can't say enough about the heart and determination of our team. Despite the results we are growing as individuals and as a group."

Cabrini will return home on Saturday, 9/23. They will kick off against St. Mary's College of Maryland at 3pm.
