Ethan's story
Cabrini got on the board first, scoring goal number one in the 21st minute. As
Ethan Emery played a right side corner kick,
Dominic Petruzzelli left his position in front of Alvernia's goal to meet Emery's pass near-post. Petruzzelli made the only touch on the cross, heading the ball just over traffic and into the right side of the net.
Alvernia answered quickly, netting the equalizer less than two minutes later. After collecting a Cabrini attack attempt, Alvernia's goalkeeper quickly played a ball upfield, finding a forward who carried through Cabrini's defensive half. He played the ball from the box to a trailing midfielder, who stuck a shot beneath the crossbar.
Before the conclusion of the half, the Golden Wolves scored their second off a free kick. Alvernia took the direct set piece from 25 yards out, and placed the shot in the upper left hand corner of Cabrini's goal.
The Golden Wolves added two second half goals, ensuring their 4-1 victory over Cabrini.
After the Cavs first loss at Edith Robb Dixon Field this season, Coach
Rob Dallas offered takeaways larger than the game's result. "We aim to play with pride and continue to improve as the season goes on. Every game we need to be taking steps forward, and today I didn't think that was reflected on the scoreline. I believe there were areas of our game where we took some steps forward, so we will accept those and look forward to our matchup with a tough Misericordia team on Tuesday."
Cabrini will travel to face Misericordia on 9/26, with kickoff set for 7pm.
