Hackettstown, NJ - The Cabrini University Men's Basketball team made their way to Centenary University to face the Cyclones in their first Atlantic East Conference matchup. The Cavaliers would jump in front early before taking the contest by a 25 point margin.
Game Flow
Cabrini was hungry from the jump, scoring seconds after the opening tip that led to a
Keenan Reiss left-handed layup. The Cavaliers would create an early 7-2 lead following an
Isaac Brady three.
The Cyclones scored on three straight trips down the court to claim a 14-11 Centenary lead before twos from Brady and Mack put the Cavs in front 15-14.
Consecutive threes from
Jayden Blakey and
Eric Neal fed Cabrini a 22-16 advantage midway through the first half.
Down 7, Centenary took to the left wing to create a four point play. Trevor Giordano, a 43% three point shooter, made the 3 point jumpshot and the ensuing free throw to lessen the Cyclones' deficit.
Centenary worked their way back, trailing by a single point with six minutes left in the first.
Donoven Mack snapped the Cyclones momentum, as he'd score the game's next six points, affording the Cavs a 31-24 edge.
Isaac Brady reached double figures in the opening period after converting a jumper from the left elbow. Reiss would follow with a three to give him 9 first half points, and Mack scored twice inside two minutes to give him 15 and the Cavaliers a 40-29 advantage at the break.
Cabrini opened the second half to the tune of a
Jayden Blakey wing three and a forced jump ball defensively.
Eager to get stops, the Cavaliers allowed just two points over a four minute stretch. During this run,
Aarick Salata created two mid-range shots off the dribble. He'd convert both jumpers to give Cabrini their 49th and 51st points on the night.
George Marion flashed midway through the second half, as he'd work his way to three made layups in a three minute window.
The Cavaliers maintained a 20 point advantage for the remainder of the contest, giving them the 87-62 victory over the Cyclones.
