Cabrini Leaders
At the Plate
In the Field On the Mound How it Happened
  • Kai Cummings earned the starting nod for Cabrini, dealing a scoreless first, second, and third inning.
  • Marymount scored twice in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Saints collected a run on a bunt single and added another off a first-and-third double steal attempt.
  • Cabrini used an active fifth inning to take a 3-2 lead. Christian Strickland reached base on a single, as Jacob Roberts got on board after a misplay by the Saints' third baseman. Alan Bautista drew a walk, loading the bases for Garrett Laraia, who took a pitch off the elbow to score the Cavs first run. Dustin Sutton then put the ball in play to the right side, as Marymount failed to turn the double play. An overthrow allowed both Bautista and Roberts to cross the plate.
  • Cummings returned to the mound, retiring the Saints in order in both the fifth and sixth innings. He retired 8 straight before a seventh inning hit snuck through the left side. The righty continued into the eighth inning, allowing a single unearned run that evened the score at 3.
  • The Cavaliers threatened to go ahead in the top of the ninth, as Laraia, Sutton, and Dickerson each drew one out walks. Marymount then flipped a double play to complete the frame run-free.
  • Josh Colon entered for Cabrini, picking up two groundouts and a flyout to push the game into extra innings.
  • Zack Brook led off the top of the tenth with a single, followed by back-to-back doubles down the left field line from Colton Narciso and Christian Strickland. The Cavaliers stranded two but entered the bottom of the tenth having reclaimed the lead, 5-3.
  • Josh Colon earned two quick outs before Marymount looked to rally past the Cavs' trusted reliever. An error, a double, a walk, and a single put the tying run on third and winning run on second for the Saints. Colon worked ahead in the count before recording the final out on a fly ball to left field.
