Baseball sweeps Immaculata, enters AEC Tournament with on 7-game win streak

MMACULATA, Pa. - The Cabrini University baseball team defeated Immaculata University in both halves of a Saturday afternoon doubleheader. The Cavaliers escaped the Mighty Macs late pressure in game one before crossing the plate nineteen times in game two. Cabrini wraps up the regular season with seven consecutive wins, upping their conference record to 14-4 and boasting a 22-10 record overall. Cabrini enters the Atlantic East Tournament as the 2-seed after finishing a game shy of Marymount for the top spot. The Cavaliers are set to begin postseason play at Cabrini-Carroll Field at 3pm on Wednesday afternoon.

How It Happened
Cabrini got in front early, sporting a run in each of the first two innings. Ryan Dipper's first inning groundout scored Jaden Dickerson and Kai Cummings double to left field scored Colton Narciso in the second. Immaculata evened the score 2-2 an inning later with a sac fly and a single. The Cavaliers reclaimed the lead in the next frame, as hits from Dustin Sutton and Ryan Dipper drove in a pair of runs. The Mighty Macs cut the Cavalier lead in half, posting a run in the bottom of the fifth. Immaculata threatened to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh, but Dustin Sutton delivered a strike from centerfield to protect the Cavs' one run lead before a strikeout for the final out. Zack Brook earned the winning decision behind a 5 inning outing with 7 punchouts. Josh Colon recorded the final six outs to collect his sixth save on the season.

How It Happened
Cabrini put up crooked numbers in four of five innings during the abbreviated win. The Cavaliers gathered 19 runs off 14 hits, 6 walks, and 4 Immaculata errors. Jaden Dickerson and Ryan Dipper combined for 3 extra base hits, 5 runs, and 9 RBIs, while Garrett Laraia had 2 runs and 2 RBIs.

Cabrini opens the Atlantic East Conference tournament at home on Wednesday, May 8th. The Cavaliers square off against Immaculata again with first pitch slated for 3pm.
