Cabrini University Athletics

Debbie Schnellenbach is in her 10th year as an assistant coach on the Cabrini field hockey coaching staff in 2022-23.

Schnellenbach brings a tremendous amount of coaching experience to the Cavaliers’ sideline.  She spent over 30 years as a field hockey coach at Ridley High School, including more than 20 years the program's head coach. 

In 1993, Schnellenbach led the Green Raiders to their first Central League title and first appearance in the district playoffs.  Ridley became a fixture in the district postseason, reaching the state title game in 1995 and capturing another Central League championship in 2003.  Three years later, Schnellenbach retired as Ridley's head coach.

It was at Ridley that Coaches Schnellenbach and Neary first joined forces, as Neary was an assistant on Schnellenbach’s coaching staff for seven years before moving to Cabrini.

Schnellenbach is also in her 16th year as an English teacher at Interboro high School in Prospect Park, Pa.  She began her teaching career as an English teacher at Ridley where she taught for over eight years, before taking 12 years off to raise her two children.

In addition to her high school teaching responsibilities, Schnellenbach was an adjunct professor at Temple University in its graduate program for education.

Schnellenbach is married to Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame wrestling coach Carl Schnellenbach.  The couple have two children, Adam and Mara.
