Shawn Kaplan joined the Cabrini men’s lacrosse coaching staff as its faceoff coach in 2016-17.
Kaplan spent two years at Div. I Ohio State University as a faceoff specialist before his career was cut short due to injury.
Kaplan posted a career win percentage of .513 with 89 ground balls in 29 appearances in the Scarlet and Gray. The Buckeyes won 16 games over Kaplan’s two campaigns, including two ECAC Tournament appearances.
Following his playing career, Kaplan returned to the Philadelphia area where he began coaching in the youth and high school ranks.
Kaplan has demonstrated a successful history of working with aspiring youth faceoff specialists with organizations including the Philly Face-Off League, Team 11/Rebel Elite, Conshohocken Bulldogs, and NXT Lacrosse Clubs. He has also coached at Plymouth Whitemarsh, Upper and Lower Merion High Schools.
Kaplan earned his bachelor’s degree at Ohio State in 2014 before completing his master’s degree in Secondary English at St. Joseph’s in 2016.
Since 2016, Kaplan has been a sixth grade English Language Arts teacher at Upper Merion Area Middle School.
