Eric Schaefer begins his third season with the Cabrini volleyball team in 2009.
In two years with the Cavaliers, Schaefer has notched a 41-22 overall record and 17-4 mark against teams from the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC).
In 2008, Schaefer coached the Blue & White to appearances in the championship match of the CSAC Tournament and ECAC South Region Tournament.
Under Schaefer’s watch the last two seasons, Stephanie Recklau (2007) and Alexis Doss (2008) have earned the CSAC Rookie of the Year distinctions and the program has celebrated eight all-conference selections.
Additionally, Schaefer is in his 12th season as the boys' varsity coach at Haverford High School, his alma mater. In 2008, the Fords finished second in District I of the PIAA and advanced the state tournament.
Schaefer was thrice named the Coach of the Year for the Independent Boys’ Volleyball League in 2004, 2007 and 2008.
Schaefer also served as the girls' varsity coach at Haverford for six seasons, representing the Central League at the PIAA District I Tournament each year. In 2005, his Haverford girls' team was awarded the Central League Sportsmanship Award.
Schaefer is in his fifth season with the Valley Forge Volleyball Club, leading the 15-and-under team to a regional championship in 2007.
Prior to his tenure at Haverford, Schaefer spent two years as the girls’ varsity coach at Radnor High School. He also spent two seasons working with both the girls' varsity and junior varsity teams at The Shipley School.
Schaefer earned a bachelor’s degree in education from East Stroudsburg University in 1996 and received his master’s degree in education from Wilkes University in 2005. He teaches health and physical education at Haverford High School.
Schaefer and his wife Pam, with their daughter Kayleigh (5) and son Tristan (3), reside in Havertown, Pa.
