RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw with Widener University Tuesday night at Edith Robb Dixon Field. Junior midfielder Evan Hanauer tallied the Cavaliers' lone goal in the tie.
The Cabrini offense registered 27 totals shots against just 12 from the visiting Pride. The Cavaliers recorded five shots in the two extra sessions. Hanauer led the charge with six attempts.
Cabrini ended a scoreless opening 30 minutes after Hanauer deposited his second goal of the season. Junior midfielder Andrew Jacobs found a slashing Hanauer through the box for the header.
The Cavaliers carried the lead into the intermission, but the Pride evened the contest 20 minutes into the second frame. Preston Dudley's free kick attempt from 40-yards out landed on the head of Kyle Leahy at the 66:10 mark for the game's equalizer.
Cabrini goalkeeper Bryan Johnson collected five saves.
Widener stopper Marty Squicciarini totaled 12 saves before leaving the game with an injury at the 75:23 mark. Hamed Correa provided nearly 35 minutes of spot duty, claiming one save.
The Cavaliers owned a commanding 14-2 corner advantage, including nine in the second half.
Cabrini (5-2-2) opens play in the Colonial States Athletic Conference Saturday, October 4, hosting Centenary College at 6:30 p.m.
