RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini men's soccer team remains unbeaten in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play after a 4-3 win Saturday night against Marywood University at Edith Robb Dixon Field. Sophomore Troy Allen tallied four points on one goal and two assists in the win.
Despite sloppy playing conditions, the Cavaliers jumped to a quick 3-0 advantage before the intermission. Allen opened the scoring with his second goal of the season in the 16th minute.
Cabrini grabbed a two-goal lead after sophomore King Saah converted his second goal of the season at the 29:02 mark. Allen's free kick from 60 yard's sailed into the box and on Saah's foot for the score.
At the 34:32 mark, junior Brian Moran deposited his second goal of the season into an open net, handing the Cavaliers a 3-0 cushion. A second free kick from Allen went through the hands of Marywood goalkeeper Jared El Gayeh.
Freshman Patrick Tobey supplied Cabrini with a 4-0 advantage at the 62:16 mark. Junior Justin McCall's pass set-up Tobey's third goal of the season.
The Pacers trimmed the Cabrini lead to one goal at 4-3 with eight minutes remaining in the second half. After Nathan Wenger's goal at the 75:19 mark, cutting the edge to 4-2, Brett Megee's header goal in the 82nd minute brought Marywood within one score.
However, the Cavaliers' defense withstood the Pacers rally for the victory. Junior goalkeeper Bryan Johnson collected three saves for his seventh win of the season.
Marywood goalkeeper Jared El Gayeh totaled three saves in 45 minutes played. John Albanese also logged 45 minutes and stopped one shot.
Cabrini (11-3-2, 6-0-0) resumes its CSAC schedule Tuesday, October 28 at Philadelphia Biblical University. Match time is set for 4 p.m.
