RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini men's soccer team began its Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) schedule with a 5-2 win against Centenary College Saturday night at Edith Robb Dixon Field. Senior Mike McDevitt scored two goals in the victory.
Cabrini out-shot the Cyclones 18-12 led by five attempts from McDevitt. Sophomore Troy Allen and freshman Patrick Tobey each recorded three shots.
McDevitt initiated the game's scoring less than five minutes following the opening whistle with his sixth goal of the season. Off a feed from junior Evan Hanauer, McDevitt beat Centenary goalkeeper Damien DiBuono to the right corner.
After Centenary tied the scoring at the 8:55 mark, McDevitt responded with his seventh goal of the season, tying junior Justin McCall for the team lead. Hanauer was credited with his second assist of the game after his corner kick was redirected into the net off of McDevitt's head.
Cabrini increased its lead to 3-1 following junior Brian Moran's first goal of the season at the 16:58 mark. The Cavaliers ended 35-plus minutes of scoreless soccer after Andrew Jacobs beat DiBuono from 18-yards out in the 52nd minute.
The Cyclones briefly cut into the lead, trimming the Cabrini advantage to two goals in the 57th minute. However, Hanauer corralled a rebound in front and cashed in on his third goal of the season at the 68:30 mark.
Cavaliers goalkeeper Bryan Johnson made five saves en route to his fourth win of the season. DiBuono stopped six shots for the Cyclones.
Cabrini (6-2-2, 1-0-0) continues its CSAC schedule Wednesday, October 8, welcoming Immaculata University to Edith Robb Dixon Field at 4 p.m.
