Men's Basketball Opens CSAC Schedule with 75-72 Win Against Keystone College

Sophomore guard Lamar Fisher tallied a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds against Keystone College Monday.

The Cabrini men's basketball team opened its Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) schedule with a 75-72 win against Keystone College Monday night at Nerney Field House. Junior forward Kevin Misevicius led four Cavaliers in double figures with 22 points.

Misevicius shot 9-for-19 from the field overall and canned both of his free throw attempts. In the last four games, he is averaging a team-high 21.8 points per game and shooting better than 58 percent from the field. Misevicius was named the CSAC Player of the Week earlier Monday.

Sophomore shooting guard Glenn Washington tallied 17 points, posted six rebounds and dished three assists. Sophomore combo guard Lamar Fisher recorded his first double-double of the season, collected 15 points on 6-for-10 shooting and claiming 10 rebounds.

Sophomore forward Dom Farrello was the fourth and final Cavalier in double figures, adding 11 points on 5-for-9 shooting overall.

Senior point guard Charles Bush displayed an efficient floor game, contributing eight points and a team-high six assists against just one turnover.

The Blue and & Gray led by as much as 13 points with 6:01 remaining in the first half. However, it was a fall-away jumper from junior guard Spencer Lunger that tied the game, 71-71 with 79 seconds left in regulation.

After Fisher drained back-to-back free throws, Keystone freshman guard Payton Flynn knocked down 1-of-2 tosses from the charity stripe, giving the Cavaliers a 73-72 advantage with just eight seconds remaining. After grabbing the missed second shot from Flynn, Washington calmly converted two foul shots with six ticks on the clock.

The Giants had one last possession after a Cavaliers' timeout. However, Keystone failed to get off a shot as the Blue & Gray forced the visitors into their 15th turnover of the night as time expired.

After Cabrini carried a 38-29 advantage into the intermission, following a long jumper from Farrello as the horn sounded, the Giants trimmed their deficit to just two points, 48-46, at the 13:24 mark.

The ensuing 13 minutes was a cat-and-mouse game with the Cavaliers pushing ahead just as the Giants chipped away at the lead. Keystone cut the Cabrini cushion to one possession eight times before Lunger's equalizer.

Farrello knocked down a jumper that hit every part of the rim before going in to hand the Cavaliers a 71-64 lead with 3:39 remaining. The Giants ran off seven straight to tie the contest before the stage was set for the final minute.

Sophomore guard Tercel Taylor led the Keystone offense, scoring a game-high 26 points on 10-for-19 shooting. He splashed 3-of-5 attempts from beyond the arc. Lunger added 15 points and freshman forward Kenneth Hardnett contributed 11.

Cabrini (5-0, 1-0) breaks from its CSAC schedule for a non-conference bout at home with Lebanon Valley College Saturday, December 6 at 3 p.m. The Cavalier women host Albright College in the day's first game at 1 p.m.
