RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini men's basketball team has ended the 2009 calendar year with a 71-58 victory against local foe and Centennial Conference opponent Haverford College Friday night at Nerney Field House. Senior forward Kevin Misevicius led three Cavalier scorers in double figures with 20 points.
Misevicius shot 7-for-15 from the field overall, and 3-for-5 from long range, en route to his 36th double-digit performance in 38 career games played at Cabrini. He has scored at least 20 points in a game 19 times with the Blue & White.
Junior forward Dom Farrello tallied 17 points on 7-for-11 shooting overall. Farrello totaled six rebounds and swiped three of the Cavaliers' 15 steals.
Freshman point guard Cory Lemons returned to the starting lineup after a one-game hiatus and notched 13 points, on 5-for-9 shooting overall, and eight assists. Rookie center Goran Dulac paired six points with a game-high nine boards.
The Blue & White led by 14 points, 37-23, at the intermission behind 56.0 percent shooting from the field. The Cavaliers improved their mark to 7-0 this season when leading at halftime.
Less than two minutes into the second half, Cabrini owned a 19-point advantage, 42-23, after Farrello canned a 3-point try. The Cavaliers led by a game-high 23 points, 57-34, following another basket from Farrello at the 9:21 mark.
The Fords' offense also boasted three scorers in double figures led by 16 points from junior forward Sam Permutt. Senior point guard Matthew Palmer (15) and freshman shooting guard Cameron Baker (13) also reached double digits.
Despite turning the ball over a season-high 24 times, the Cavaliers shot a season-best 53.8 percent from the floor for the game. The Blue & White won the battle in the paint, out-scoring Haverford, 32-20.
Only separated by just 15 minutes and a little more than six miles, tonight's game marked the first ever between the Cavaliers and Fords in men's basketball.
Cabrini (7-1) welcomes in the New Year on the road Monday, Jan. 4 versus Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opponent Keystone College. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
