HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – The Cabrini men's basketball team had its five-game win streak ended Thursday at Centenary College. Despite junior forward Kevin Misevicius' sixth double-double of the season, the Cavaliers' dropped a 72-65 decision against the Cyclones.
Misevicius scored a game-high 21 points, notched 10 rebounds and swiped a season-high eight steals. Listed as the CSAC's second-leading scorer, he has reached double figures in all but two games this season.
Sophomore guard Glenn Washington totaled 12 points, fighting through a rough shooting performance throughout. Washington also collected eight rebounds and dished two assists.
Senior shooting guard Ryan Oxley tallied nine points, converting three three-point field goals. Senior point guard Charles Bush posted seven points, four rebounds and three thefts.
The Cavaliers dug themselves a 12-point hole at the intermission after shooting just 29.4 percent from the field in the first half. The closing 20 minutes went without an improvement as Cabrini managed to convert just 15-of-45 field goal tries.
Despites its offensive woes, the Cavaliers rallied from what had become a 16-point deficit at one point, taking a 56-52 lead with 8:35 remaining.
Freshman shooting guard Greg Zabel supplied Cabrini with its first lead, 54-52, of the game in nearly 28 minutes with a three-point basket at the 9:30 point of the second period. Junior guard Corey White capped a 16-0 Cavaliers' run with a jump-shot less than one minute following.
However, guard Rob Urie's lay-in with 4:06 remaining gave Centenary a lead, 59-58, that would never be relinquished. Urie led all Cyclones with 19 points.
Forward Ryan Kearney tallied 17 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Will Atkinson delivered 13 points and five boards.
Cabrini (16-6, 9-4) returns home for the first of its final two home games Saturday, welcoming CSAC opponent Neumann College to Nerney Field House at 1 p.m.
