RADNOR, Pa. –
The Cabrini softball team split a double-header against Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) foe Centenary College Monday at Cabrini Field. Behind junior P Liz Zimmer, the Cavaliers captured game one, 4-1.

Zimmer pitched all seven and struck out five batters en route to her third win of the season.

Freshman DP Angela Shookster ignited Cabrini at the plate, going 2-for-2, scoring one run and driving in two more. Shookster's solo home run in the bottom of the second inning tied the game at 1-1.

The Cavaliers took their first and final lead of the contest in the fifth inning. Freshman SS Sammy Thompson scored on a two-base error after driving a one-out double off the base of the centerfield fence, supplying Cabrini with a 2-1 edge.

The Blue & White added a second run later in the inning on an RBI single from Shookster, plating freshman 2B Ryan McDonough.

Cabrini added an insurance tally in the sixth with back-to-back doubles from sophomore C Chrissy Squillace and a sophomore LF Susan Schmidt.

The Cavaliers failed to complete the two-game sweep for the third conference double-header in three tries. Cabrini's efforts were hampered by seven errors in the nightcap, dropping a 9-5 decision.

Junior P Cheri Johns pitched a complete game in the loss, allowing just four earned runs.

Schmidt paced the Cavaliers offensively, driving in two runs and also scoring one. Cabrini led 2-1 after two innings after Schmidt pulled a two-run home run over the left field fence.

Centenary answered with three unearned runs in the top half of the third and added to its advantage with five runs over the last three innings.

Centenary's Kristin Durburow lasted 7.0 innings, striking out five and surrendering just five hits.

Cabrini (5-9, 3-3) returns to CSAC play Friday, March 27 at Philadelphia Biblical University. First pitch of game one is set for 3 p.m.
