Five Cavaliers Selected to Atlantic East All-Conference Teams

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference named the All-Conference Softball teams and major award winners on Tuesday afternoon, with Cabrini taking five spots on the All-AEC teams.

Ariana Mirenda garnered her fourth Atlantic East All-Conference selection, earning a spot as a first-team outfielder. The 2022 AEC Player of the Year was second-team as a freshman at Wesley before taking three consecutive first-team honors with the Cavaliers. Mirenda held a .304 batting average and .413 slugging percentage this season with six extra base hits, including three triples and a homerun. The rangy outfielder led the team in steals and maintained a perfect fielding percentage with 64 putouts and 4 assists from center field.

Dorian Ilyes made the AEC All-Confernece first team as a utility pitcher. Pitching just 4 innings prior to the 2024 season, Ilyes made 14 appearances in the circle and 17 starts in the field. She'd pitch to the tune of a 4.62 ERA in 33 1/3 innings against conference foes. Ilyes had 14 hits including 5 doubles at the plate, while recording 19 putouts and 17 assists in the field. Ilyes' season highlight came on the second half of the Cavs' Senior Day sweep of Immaculata, where she tossed 5 2/3 scoreless innings to help the Cavs mount a seven run comeback over the Mighty Macs.

For the second consecutive season, Kaitlyn Delaney was an at-large selection on the All-Confernece first team. Delaney, the Elite 20 Award recipient a year prior, assumed the role of the Cavaliers' primary catcher in 2024. Behind the dish, she held onto 138 putouts and threw 5 runners out stealing. Delaney had a .289 batting average, .378 on-base percentage, and slugged .600 in conference games this season. She tied Kelsey Huling for the team lead in doubles (6), and belted three home runs in a two game set with Immaculata.

Emma Barbera was selected to the All-Conference second team, marking her third appearance on an All-AEC squad. She previously earned first team honors in both 2021 and 2023. Barbera spent most of her time at second base, holding a .956 fielding percentage behind 47 putouts and 18 assists. She slashed .272 / .277 / .309 with 10 RBIs and 3 doubles in conference play alone. Barbera had three 3-hit games on the year, with one coming against each of Centenary, Marywood, and Gwynedd Mercy.

Madison Gugel also represented Cabrini on the All-Conference second team. Gugel was the Atlantic East Rookie of the Year and a secod team selection in 2021 and was the All-Confernece first team shortstop in 2023. This season, she led the team in walks with 9 and slashed .294 / .368 / .365 at the plate. Gugel was productive across the board, tallying 25 hits, scoring 17 runs, knocking in 15 RBIs, and stealing 10 bases on the year. Defensively, she accounted for 80 total outs at short with 48 putouts and 32 infield assists.
