CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. –
The Cabrini softball team completed its first two-game sweep of a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opponent Saturday afternoon at Baptist Bible College. Junior P Liz Zimmer tossed a no-hitter in game one, keying the Cavaliers' 10-0 victory.

Zimmer pitched 5.0 innings and struck out three batters. She allowed just three Defenders to reach base all afternoon, issuing three free passes. Zimmer's no-hitter improves her season ERA to 4.18 and overall record to 4-5.

The Cabrini offense provided Zimmer a comfortable nine-run lead after three innings, hanging seven in the second and two more in the third on BBC. Zimmer and freshman DP Angela Shookster each knocked in two runs in the victory.

Sophomore C Susan Schmidt's bases-loaded RBI single opened the flood gates in the second inning. Zimmer followed one batter later with a two-run double to right centerfield. In all, the Cavaliers sent 10 batters to the plate in the inning.

Freshmann SS Sammy Thompson added an RBI single in the third before Zimmer was credited with stealing home, pushing the Cabrini lead to 9-0.

Shookster capped the Cavaliers' offensive outburst with her team-leading third homerun of the season in the fourth inning.

Behind junior P Cheri Johns' performance, Cabrini earned a 7-4 win in game two. Johns lasted 7.0 innings, allowing six hits and striking out seven en route to her fourth win of the season.

The Blue & White jumped to a 2-0 lead after the first inning after three straight doubles from freshman Ryan McDonough, senior Kristie Sandefur and Shookster.

Baptist Bible evened the contest with two runs in the bottom half. However, Cabrini's two runs in the top of the second inning handed the visitors a lead they would never relinquish. Thompson drove in a run with an RBI single and sophomore OF Leslie Farrell stole home.

The Cavaliers added three runs in the top of the sixth inning. Senior OF Melissa Benedetti pushed home one run with an RBI single and sophomore OF Pam Mechling drove in two runs with a double to left field.

Johns held the Defenders scoreless in five of the last six innings, surrendering one run in the hosts' final at-bat.

Cabrini (8-10, 6-4) continues its CSAC schedule Thursday, April 3 against Rosemont College. Game one is set for a 3 p.m. start.
