RADNOR, Pa. - The Cabrini softball team suffered a two-game sweep at the hands of non-conference opponent Widener University Thursday at Cabrini Field. The Pride captured a 7-1 win in game one before a 3-1 victory in game two.
Senior
Melissa Benedetti provided the Cavaliers' offense in game one, launching her third homerun of the season in the bottom of the sixth inning.
In her last eight games, Benedetti is batting a torrid .458, hitting three long-balls and driving in nine runs. She has posted three runs scored, three doubles and one triple.
Junior P
Liz Zimmer (5-8) suffered the loss in game one, pitching seven innings and striking out three. Zimmer surrendered just one hit through five frames before Widener tacked on five runs in the sixth inning on six hits.

Kristie Sandefur scored on an RBI single from freshman DP
Angela Shookster. Sandefur, the reigning Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Player of the Week, knocked a double off the leftfield fence one batter prior.
Much like game one, junior P
Cheri Johns cruised through the first five innings, allowing just four hits. However, the Cavalier hurler ran into trouble in the sixth ignited by two errors. The Pride grabbed a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning on two unearned runs.
Widener added an insurance tally in the top half of the seventh.
Johns (5-8) tossed all seven innings for the Blue & White, allowing eight hits and notching five strikeouts.
Cabrini (10-16, 8-6) returns to its CSAC schedule Saturday, April 18 against conference leader Neumann College. Game one is set to begin at 1 p.m.
