Men's Soccer Handed 1-0 Loss in Home Opener Against DeSales University

The Cabrini men's soccer team suffered a 1-0 loss against DeSales University Tuesday.

RADNOR, Pa. –
The Cabrini men's soccer team was dealt a 1-0 setback against DeSales University Tuesday night at Edith Robb Dixon Field. Bulldog junior Aaron Gildner's goal in the 19th minute of play proved to be the game-winner.

The Cavaliers' offense recorded 28 shots. Senior midfielder Brian Raffle, playing his first career game with the Blue & White, led the charge, totaling six shots. Senior midfielder Evan Hanauer and sophomore back Kyle Johnson, also making his Cabrini debut, each tallied four shots.

The Cavaliers' offense totaled 13 shots in the first half and 15 shots in the second half. Cabrini won the corner kicks battle, 11-4.

Despite registering just 13 total shots, including only four in the second half, DeSales fought off an active Cavaliers' offense for the victory. Freshman midfielder Steve Krause was credited with the assist on the Gildner marker.

Cabrini senior goalkeeper Bryan Johnson collected three saves in the loss. DeSales senior netminder Keith Barry made four stops.

Cabrini (0-1-0) returns to action Friday, September 4 at home against NYU – POLY at 12 p.m. as part of the Cabrini College Soccer Festival. The two-day event features four teams each on both the men and women's side.
