Men's Basketball Runs Past Rosemont College, 72-51

Senior forward Dom Farrello paired 16 points with nine rebounds in a 72-51 win at Rosemont College on Saturday.

ROSEMONT, Pa. –
The Cabrini men's basketball team is unbeaten through two games in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play following a commanding 72-51 victory at Rosemont College on Saturday afternoon. Senior forward Dom Farrello led three Cavalier scorers in double figures with a game-high 16 points.

Farrello shot 3-for-5 from 3-point range and corralled nine rebounds for the Blue & White. Freshman forward Fran Rafferty tallied 11 points on 4-for-9 shooting overall.

Sophomore guard A.J. Williams contributed 10 points on 5-for-8 shooting overall in 18 minutes played off the bench. Junior forward Brandon Carter chipped in eight points in 24 minutes as a reserve.

Freshman center Jon Miller led the Cavaliers' 52-34 rebound advantage with a game-high 11 boards, including five on the offensive end. Senior guard Lamar Fisher and sophomore point guard Cory Lemons each recorded five rebounds.

Cabrini shot just 38.2 percent from the field in the first half, but played front-runner, 37-24, at the break. Farrello ignited the Cavaliers' attack in the opening period, scoring 11 points and grabbing eight rebounds before the intermission.

The Blue & White put together a 9-2 run to begin the second half and led by 20 points, 46-26, with 14:24 remaining. Farrello and Rafferty charged the spurt, scoring five and four points, respectively.

The Cavaliers ballooned their lead to a game-high 23 points, 62-39, at the 6:06 mark.

Cabrini out-scored the Ravens, 30-20, in the paint, and also benefitted from a 37-point effort off the bench.  In the Cavaliers' 86-83 overtime win against CSAC rival Gwynedd-Mercy College on Dec. 2, the Blue & White bench provided 51 points.

Sophomore guard Justin Chaney scored a team-high 12 points for the Ravens in the loss. Sophomore guard Tremell Green kicked in 11 points.

The victory is Cabrini's third in three games played against Rosemont all-time. The Ravens are in just their second season of men's basketball after the College transitioned to co-educational status at the onset of the 2009-10 academic year.

Cabrini (4-1, 2-0) is out of action until Wednesday, Dec. 15 on the road against Landmark Conference opponent the University of Scranton. Game time against the Royals is set for 7:30 p.m.
