LA PLUME, Pa. –
The Cabrini softball team maintained its sole possession of second place in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) standings with a doubleheader sweep against Keystone College on Saturday afternoon. The Cavaliers rallied for an extra-inning 2-1 victory in game one before cruising to a 5-2 win in game two.

Senior P Liz Zimmer helped her own cause with the go-ahead and eventual game-winning hit in the eighth inning of the first contest, driving home junior pinch-runner Leslie Farrell with a one-out single to right field.

Cabrini tied the game, 1-1, in the top of the sixth inning with a two-out RBI single to left field from junior C Chrissy Squillace. Sophomore 1B Angela Shookster triggered the rally with a lead-off single back through the box.

On the mound, Zimmer struck out three and handed out just one walk en route to her eighth consecutive victory in her last eight starts. She allowed seven hits.

Zimmer entered Saturday's game ranked second in the CSAC with a 2.40 ERA. After Saturday's complete game effort, she dropped that number to a team-best 2.28. Zimmer leads the Cavaliers with 10 victories in 2010.

In game two, sophomore P Marcelle Crist went the distance and surrendered just two hits on the way to her seventh win of the season. Crist faced only 20 batters throughout the game.

Cabrini led 5-0 after six innings. The Cavaliers one through four hitters each recorded one RBI, while lead-off hitter sophomore SS Sammy Thompson crossed home plate twice.

The Blue & White scored two runs in the third inning with two outs. Thompson provided an RBI single to right field in the sixth inning.

Keystone added two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Cabrini (19-13, 13-3) begins the final week of its CSAC regular season on the road against Rosemont College on Tuesday, April 27. Game one is set to start at 3 p.m.
