Softball Splits Doubleheader Regular Season Finale at Marywood University

SCRANTON, Pa. –
The Cabrini softball team wrapped up its 2010 Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) regular season on Saturday afternoon, splitting a twin-bill on the road against Marywood University. The Cavaliers have finished the conference regular season with a 16-6 mark and have earned the No. 3 seed for the CSAC Tournament.

Cabrini salvaged the split against the Pacers with a nine-inning 7-4 victory in game two. Tied at 3-3 after seven frames, the Cavaliers plated four in the ninth en route to the win.

Sophomore SS Sammy Thompson and freshman CF Casey O'Connell each recorded two hits and scored two runs in the victory. Junior LF Leslie Farrell drove in two runs.

Freshman P Missy Miller notched her fifth complete game effort of the season and third win overall, allowing four earned runs and striking out two.

Marywood edged the Cavaliers, 3-2, in game one. The Pacers scored three runs in the first inning and never looked back. Sophomore DP Kaitlyn Brennan provided the offense for MU, driving in all three runs.

Freshman P Marcelle Crist suffered the loss, surrendering seven hits and fanning two batters.

Junior C Chrissy Squillace went 2-for-3 at the plate in the loss. Thompson scored each of the Blue & White's two runs.

Cabrini (22-16, 16-6) will host the quarterfinal round of the CSAC Tournament on Wednesday, May 5 at 4 p.m. Opponent to be announced.
