SCRANTON, Pa. –
Junior guard John Boyd's tip-in attempt with 1.6 seconds remaining kicked off the back iron as the Cabrini men's basketball team had its 12-game Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) win streak snapped in a 57-55 loss at Marywood University on Monday night.

The Cavaliers' loss is their first in CSAC play since an 81-80 setback at Centenary College on Jan. 30, 2010. Cabrini finished 17-1 versus conference opponent during the 2009-10 regular season en route to the league title.

Freshman forward Fran Rafferty led the Cavaliers' attack, scoring 12 points on 5-for-7 shooting overall. Rafferty also pulled down four rebounds and handed out three assists.

Senior forward Dom Farrello, named the CSAC Player of the Week earlier Monday, totaled 11 points and seven rebounds.

Sophomore point guard Cory Lemons paired nine points with seven assists. Sophomore center Goran Dulac netted seven points and gathered a team-best 11 boards.

The Cavaliers led for more than 35 minutes on Monday against the Pacers until junior forward Matt Lepri's lay-in with 1:08 remaining in the second half provided the hosts with a 56-55 edge. Senior forward John Foreman made 1-of-2 at the line to push the Marywood lead to 57-55 with 11 seconds on the clock.

Dulac was fouled on Cabrini's ensuing possession after Lemons found him open on a dribble penetration underneath the basket. After missing his first free throw attempt, Dulac's intentional miss on the second try found Boyd charging to the basket. However, the junior guard's catch-and-shoot tip-in rimmed out as the horn sounded, preserving the MU victory.

The victory is Marywood's first against Cabrini in nearly two years, an 89-85 win on Jan. 15, 2009 at the Insalaco Arena.

The Cavaliers led 34-31 at the intermission behind a 51.7 percent shooting performance. Cabrini has shot better than 45 percent in a half on nine different occasions this season.

However, the Blue & White offense struggled to find a rhythm in the second half, shooting a season-low 25.0 percent from the floor.

Senior forward Lenny Martin powered the Pacers' attack, recording a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds in the victory. Lepri finished with 11 points in 14 minutes played off the MU bench.

Marywood out-scored the Cavaliers, 20-11, in bench points.

Cabrini (6-4, 3-1 CSAC) remains on the road against CSAC opponent Centenary on Thursday, Jan. 13. Game time against the Cyclones is set for 7 p.m.
