Men's Basketball Wins Sixth Straight, Bests Keystone College, 89-84

The Cabrini men's basketball team remains in sole possession of first place in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) following an 89-84 win at Keystone College on Thursday night. The victory is the Cavaliers' sixth straight and their eight in the last nine games.

Sophomore point guard Cory Lemons recorded his fifth career double-double, pairing 27 points with 13 rebounds. Lemons shot 11-for-18 from the floor overall and dished out six assists.

Senior forward Dom Farrello finished with 21 points and six rebounds. Farrello scored 17 points in the second half and is now only seven points shy of becoming the 15th player in program history to score 1,000 career points.

Junior guard John Boyd and senior guard Lamar Fisher also scored in double figures, notching 14 and 10 points, respectively. Boyd shot 7-of-10 from the free throw line and Fisher went a perfect 5-for-5 from the field in 20 minutes played off the bench.

The Cabrini offense boasted four scorers in double figures for the eighth time this season.

The Cavaliers led by as much as 14 points and shot 54.3 percent from the floor in the first half en route to a 44-35 advantage at the break. Lemons netted 17 points and pulled down eight rebounds in the opening 20 minutes.

The Blue & White quickly pushed its lead to 12 points, 53-41, at the 16:40 mark of the second half. Cabrini owned a 13-point advantage, 76-63, with just 3:54 remaining.

However, Keystone put together a 16-6 run over the next 2:40, trimming its deficit to only three points, 82-79, with 74 seconds on the clock.

The Cavaliers shot 7-for-10 down the stretch, clinching their second win this season versus the Giants and fifth straight overall.

The Keystone offense also generated four double figure scorers, led by junior forward Kenneth Hardnett's team-high 19 points. Senior guard Tercel Taylor and sophomore guard Tim Benedix each tallied 18 points.

The win creates a two-game advantage in the standings for Cabrini (9-1 CSAC) over Keystone (7-3 CSAC). Gwynedd-Mercy College entered Thursday night's action with two losses in conference play.

Cabrini (12-4, 9-1 CSAC) remains on the road for its next outing against CSAC opponent Philadelphia Biblical University on Saturday, Jan. 29. Game time against the Crimson Eagles is scheduled for 4 p.m.
