RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini College men's soccer team snapped its three game losing skid today with a 2-0 home win against the Immaculata University Mighty Macs. The win evened the Cavaliers record at 6-6-1 and 2-2 in the CSAC.
From the opening whistle, it was apparent that the Cavaliers wanted to really control the ball from their back line and get a lot of shots. That is exactly what they did today. Cabrini recorded 10 shots in the first half, five on goal.
In the 38th minute, freshman
Christian Martin notched his first collegiate goal from his fullback position on an assist from sophomore
Taylor Scarpino.
Sophomore
Brett Lockbaum tallied his fourth goal of the season in the 55th minute on a one-touch volley off a service from senior
Eric Collins.
Cabrini's back four of Martin, seniors
Kyle Johnson and
Anthony Girolamo, and sophomore
C.J. Doherty were extremely steady on the defensive end, controlling the ball and give Cabrini's offense chances to score, while keeping sophomore goalie
Eric Nowicki clean.
The Cavaliers amasses 18 total shots, eight on goal, and kept the Mighty Macs to just three shots, none on goal. The 18 shots are Cabrini's second highest total of the season, while Immaculata's three are the second least the Blue and White has allowed in a match this season.
The Cavaliers will host Gwynedd-Mercy College on Wednesday, October 12. The match is set for 4:00 p.m.
