Men's Basketball 14-Game Win Streak Ends at Neumann University

ASTON, Pa. - The Cabrini men's basketball team had its 14-game win streak come to an end on Thursday night following an 86-78 loss versus Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opponent Neumann University at the Mirenda Center. The loss also snaps the Cavaliers' seven-game win streak against the Knights, dating back to the 2007-08 season.

Senior forward Dom Farrello led all scorers, netting 25 points. Farrello gathered eight rebounds and shot 5-for-13 from beyond the 3-point stripe. His 1,173 career points rank eighth on Cabrini's all-time scoring list.

Freshman forward Fran Rafferty posted a career-high 17 points, shooting 5-for-7 overall and 3-for-4 from long range. Sophomore point guard Cory Lemons coupled 13 points with eight assists and six boards.

Junior guard John Boyd paired eight points with five rebounds. Sophomore center Goran Dulac and sophomore guard A.J. Williams each contributed six points.

The Cavaliers led by as much as 13 points in the first half, but clung to only a two-point edge, 42-40, at the intermission. Farrello scored 17 points in the opening 20 minutes, while the Blue & White shot 50.0 percent from the field as a team.

Cabrini's lead was short-lived in the second half as Neumann secured an advantage it would never relinquish, 44-43, at the 19:15 mark. The Knights pushed their cushion to nine points, 60-51, with 12:47 remaining.

However, the Cavaliers answered with an 11-4 run and trailed by only two points, 64-62, at the 8:57 mark. Cabrini faced a the same two-point deficit, 71-69, with 4:58 left.

Neumann responded with an 8-0 spurt and pushed its lead back to 10 points, 79-69, at the 2:54 mark. The Knights led by as much as 11 points, 86-75, with 20 ticks remaining.

Senior guard Marquise Boggs paired 15 points with 10 rebounds for Neumann in the victory. Senior forward Patrick O'Connor totaled a team-best 23 points.

The loss ends Cabrini's season-best 14-game win streak, a run that dates back to a 95-82 win at Centenary College on Jan. 13. The Cavaliers clinched the No. 1 seed and a first-round bye in the CSAC Tournament for the second straight season on Feb. 13.

Cabrini (20-5, 16-2 CSAC) begins its quest for a second straight CSAC title and trip to the NCAA Tournament in the semifinal round of the conference tournament on Tuesday, Feb. 22 at Nerney Field House. Game time is set for 7 p.m. The Cavaliers' opponent is to be determined.
