RADNOR, Pa. - The Cabrini softball team began its Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) regular season slate this afternoon against Marywood University at Cabrini Field. The Cavaliers captured a 7-5 win in game one before suffering a 10-4 setback in the night-cap.

Cabrini led by just one run, 3-2, before plating four runs with two outs in the bottom of the 6th inning, including a much-needed three-run home run from junior 1B Angela Shookster. Junior 3B Ryan McDonough also knocked in a run one batter prior with a two-out single to centerfield.

Shookster's third home run in two games, and the 14th of her career, proved critical because Marywood tallied three runs in the top half of the 7th before sophomore P Marcelle Crist induced a flyball to centerfield to end the game.

Crist earned the victory, her second of the season, tossing a complete game and allowing four earned runs. She struck out one and walked two in the win.

Junior SS Sammy Thompson went 3-for-4 at the plate, scored one run and drove in another in game one.

The Pacers jumped out to a 4-0 lead with four runs in the top of the 3rd inning. The Blue & White cut its deficit to two runs in the 4th inning, plating one on a passed ball and the second off an RBI single from junior 2B Stephanie Campanaro.

However, Marywood posted six runs over the next two innings. The Pacers pounded out 17 hits in the second game, including three home runs.

Junior P Kaitlyn Brennan allowed eight hits, struck out three and surrendered just two earned runs in game two. Brennan also helped her own caused at the plate, slamming a pair of two-run home runs.

Sophomore P Missy Miller pitched 5.0-plus innings and suffered the loss in game two.

Cabrini (2-8, 1-1 CSAC) returns to its non-conference schedule on Tuesday, March 22 versus Centennial Conference opponent Swarthmore College at Cabrini Field. Game one versus the Garnet is set to start at 3 p.m.
