RADNOR, Pa. –
The Cabrini softball team rallied from a five-run deficit to claim a 9-7 win in game two of a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) doubleheader against Baptist Bible College on Saturday afternoon at Cabrini Field. Junior 3B Ryan McDonough supplied the eventual game-winning hit with her first career home run.

Trailing 7-6 in the bottom of the 5th inning, sophomore CF Lindsey Atzert worked a one-out walk against BBC sophomore P Katelin Broughton. Just one batter later, McDonough provided the heroics, slamming a two-run shot over the centerfield fence.

Junior SS Sammy Thompson provided the Cavaliers with an insurance run in the 6th inning with an RBI single to leftfield, scoring sophomore OF Missy Miller.

Senior OF Pam Mechling and senior C Chrissy Squillace also posted two RBI in the win. Squillace earned a bases loaded walk in the 2nd inning before punching an RBI single in the 4th. Mechling inside-outted a ball down the rightfield line that also produced two runs in the 4th.

Sophomore P Kristin Whitmore earned the victory despite a rocky start. Whitmore allowed seven runs, all of them earned, through just two innings before settling in to a comfort zone and pitching scoreless ball the rest of the way. She finished with two strikeouts and walked just one.

Broughton was saddled with the loss, surrendering six earned runs and walking eight.

Baptist Bible (8-3, 1-0 CSAC) claimed a 9-4 win in game one behind a complete game effort from freshman P Kacee Rava. Rava allowed four earned runs and struck out three en route to the win.

The Cavaliers led 2-0 through two innings. Cabrini plated its second run of the contest with Squillace's first career home run, a solo shot to straight-away centerfield.

The Defenders broke open a 2-2 tie with five runs scored over the 4th and 5th innings.

Trailing 9-2, the Blue & White added two runs in the 7th inning with an RBI ground out from McDonough and an RBI single from junior 1B Angela Shookster.

Cabrini (3-11, 2-2 CSAC) continues its CSAC regular season schedule at home against Rosemont College on Friday, April 1. Game one against the Ravens is scheduled for 3 p.m.
