IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Cabrini softball team's two-game win streak came to an end on Monday afternoon following a doubleheader sweep at the hands of Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opponent Immaculata University. Senior C Chrissy Squillace drove in two runs in the Cavaliers' 5-3 loss in game two.
Squillace went 2-for-3 at the dish and knocked in two runs with a double in the top of the 6th inning. Senior OF Pam Mechling also tallied one RBI, forcing in one run with a bases-loaded walk in the 2nd inning.
Cabrini owned a 3-0 advantage in game two before Immaculata hung five runs in the bottom of the 5th. The Mighty Macs' three through seven hitters each recorded one RBI in the tide-turning frame.
Sophomore P Marcelle Crist suffered the loss in game two, lasting 6.0 innings and surrendering five earned runs. Crist struck out one and issued one walk.
Immaculata plated three runs in the 2nd inning and added another in both the 3rd and 5th frames en route to a 5-1 victory in game one. Jenny Barnholt and Allison Zborowski each drove in two runs for the Mighty Macs in the win.
Squillace scored the Blue & White's lone run in game one. Mechling went 2-for-3 at the plate in the loss.
Sophomore P Missy Miller was saddled with the loss in game one, pitching 6.0 innings and striking out three. Miller allowed four earned runs.
Cabrini (8-18, 7-9 CSAC) hosts its final CSAC doubleheader of the regular season on Tuesday, April 26 against Keystone College. Game one against the Giants is set for a 3 p.m. start.
