Squillace's Grand Slam Caps Sweep Against Rosemont College

Senior Chrissy Squillace's first career grand slam capped a two-game sweep against Rosemont College on Wednesday.

Senior C Chrissy Squillace capped the Cabrini softball team's first two-game sweep of the season with a 4th inning grand slam in game two versus Rosemont College at Cabrini Field on Wednesday afternoon. The Cavaliers earned a 2-1 victory in the first contest before a 12-2 win in the nightcap against the Ravens.

Squillace's grand slam was part of an eight-run, seven-hit fourth inning for the Blue & White. She finished the game 2-for-3 at the plate with four RBI and two runs scored in game two.

The home run is just the second in Squillace's career. However, the senior has now slammed two run-trippers in the last four games.

Junior SS Sammy Thompson also drove in two runs in the marathon frame for the Cavaliers. The Blue & White plated three runs on three hits in the first inning.

Sophomore P Marcelle Crist earned the victory against Rosemont in game two, pitching 5.0 innings striking out two and surrendering only six hits.

The Cavaliers edge out a 2-1 win in game one behind a complete game effort from sophomore hurler Missy Miller. Miller logged 7.0 innings, striking out three and allowing only three hits.

The Ravens got on the board first with one in the 1st inning before Cabrini evened the count with a tally in the bottom half. Junior 3B Ryan McDonough tied the contest with an RBI ground-out.

Junior 2B Stephanie Campanaro's single to leftfield in the 2nd inning proved to be the game's decisive hit, scoring Squillace from third.

Freshman P Kathryn Santoli also earned a complete game in the first game for Ravens, lasting 6.0 innings and K'ing eight in the loss.

Cabrini (5-11, 4-2 CSAC) continues its CSAC regular season schedule at defending champion Neumann University on Friday, April 8. Game one against the Knights is set to start at 3 p.m.
