RADNOR, Pa. –
Sophomore P Marcelle Crist dealt a four-hit complete game shutout en route to a 1-0 victory versus Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opponent Gwynedd-Mercy College on Saturday afternoon at Cabrini Field. The Griffins used an extra-inning grand slam in game two on their way to a 7-3 win.

Crist struck out three and faced only 25 batters for her team-best fourth win of the season and her 18th career complete game. The southpaw induced 15 ground-outs and got three outs via fly ball.

The Cavaliers plated their lone run on an RBI pop-out from senior C Chrissy Squillace. Squillace, one game removed from hitting her first career grand slam versus Rosemont College on April 6, drove in sophomore CF Lindsey Atzert with the eventual game-winning hit.

Atzert and junior 3B Ryan McDonough each tallied two hits in the victory.

Cabrini trailed 3-2 heading into the 7th inning of game two before Atzert's RBI single, scoring junior SS Sammy Thompson forced extra innings.

However, Gwynedd-Mercy (6-15, 4-8) got a grand slam from Tegan Wendell in the top half of the 8th inning. Wendell started the game on the rubber before Heather Morgan came on in relief to earn the victory.

Crist was saddled with the loss in game two, surrendering 12 hits and seven earned runs through 8.0 innings.

Cabrini (6-12, 5-3 CSAC) resumes its non-conference schedule at home against Centennial Conference opponent Haverford College on Tuesday, April 12. Game one against the Fords is set for 3 p.m.
