RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini College men's soccer team rallied to defeat the Marywood University Pacers 2-1 in their CSAC opener. The win improved the Cavaliers to 4-3 overall and 1-0 in the CSAC.
Though the Pacers opened the scoring in the game's 14th minute, the Cavaliers found themselves in familiar territory. Cabrini found itself in a similar situation on Saturday against Eastern. Just as they did against the Eagles, the Blue and White turned up the offensive pressure and rallied.
Cabrini tied the score in the 36th minute, after being awarded a penalty kick on the edge of Marywood's penalty box. Senior
Jim Mattock put the ball in the right side netting just past the outstretched arms of the Pacers' goalie.
The Cavaliers continued to push the action in the second half, with Cabrini constantly stringing passes together working the ball up the field. Their pressure again paid off in the 59th minute.
After forcing a corner kick, Mattock's service found freshman
Matt Sabin's head and ricocheted into the net. The goal was Sabin's second of the season.
Cabrini will travel to Chester, Pa. on Saturday night for a 7:00 p.m. nonconference match at Widener University.
