CHESTER, Pa. – The Cabrini College men's soccer team earned a hard fought tie on Saturday night at Widener University. The Cavaliers record moves to 5-3-1 overall.
Cabrini's lone goal came late in the first half. Sophomore
Ryan Cerrato drilled a shot from about 15 yards out into the top right corner of the net. It was the first time since Cabrini's second game of the season that the Cavaliers held a lead going into the halftime break.
Widener came out for the second half determined to increase the pressure they put on the Cavaliers, evidenced by the 11-3 shot advantage and the 8-2 edge in corner kicks. The pressure paid off in the 86th minute when Widener converted on a penalty kick opportunity.
Both teams played the extra periods very evenly, with neither team getting a true scoring opportunity.
The Cavaliers will host nonconference for Alvernia University on Wednesday, September 8 at 4:00 p.m. at Edith Robb Dixon Field.
