RADNOR, Pa. – After struggling to score goals for much of the season, the Cabrini men's soccer team is finding its touch after today's 10-0 home win over Valley Forge Christian College. The Cavaliers have now scored 16 goals during its current three match win streak.
The Blue and White simply overpowered the Patriots, outshooting them 43-2, including 16 shots on goal to zero. The Cavaliers also secured 20 corner kicks, while holding Valley Forge without one.
It took Cabrini some time to find its scoring touch but midway through the first half sophomore
Christian Martin found fellow sophomore
George Lambritsios for the first goal of the game. The goal puts Lambritsios at the top of Cabrini's scoring list with five goals.
Less than one minute later, sophomore
Rey Jimenez scored the first of his two goals on the day. In the 30th minute, Martin tallied the score sheet with his second goal of the season.
In the 32nd minute, Jimenez added an assist to his earlier goal when he found senior
Ryan Juhring for the senior's second of the season. Freshman
Bobby Sharp notched his first career goal in the 36th minute with an unassisted tally.
Minutes before the halftime break, senior
Pat Wehring turned a pass from junior
Ryan Cerrato into his second career goal and first since October 9, 2010. Wehring's goal sent the Cavaliers into the halftime break with a 6-0 lead.
Less than six minutes into the second half, Jimenez completed his five point day with his second goal of the match, this one assisted by freshman Mike Commacho, marking Commacho's first career helper.
Junior
Brendan Magerr scored his first career goal in the 64th minute after converting a pass from sophomore
Eric Goldbloom.
Sharp completed his career day with unassisted goals in the 78th and 85th minutes to complete the hat trick.
Freshman
R.J. Pino and senior
Mike Gee shared goalkeeping duties to record the shutout. Senior
Kyle Johnson added two assists in the victory, giving him six assist in his last two games.
The Cavaliers (7-7-2) will return to the pitch on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. when they welcome Baptist Bible College to Edith Robb Dixon Field. Saturday's match will mark the final regular season home match for Cabrini's five seniors
