MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. –
The Cabrini College men's basketball team will open the 2012-13 season as the No. 10 ranked team in the country, according to D3hoops.com's Preseason Men's Basketball Top 25.  The Cavaliers closed the 2011-12 campaign ranked No. 2 by the website.  Last week, the Cavaliers were listed at #5 in the DIII News Preseaon Poll.

“This honor is a reflection of the hard work of our student-athletes, coaches, athletic department and entire school community,” said Cabrini's head coach Marcus Kahn, now entering his fifth season leading the program.  “Receiving accolades in October is always a motivating factor as we prepare for the season.  Our focus remains being worthy of those honors at the end of the season.”

Kahn and the Cavaliers posted the nation's best record last season at 31-2 and advancing to the school's first ever appearance in a National Championship game.  The Blue and White won its third consecutive Colonial States Athletic Conference crown, while extending its home conference win streak to  45 games.

The Cavaliers are lead by an experienced group of players led by seniors Goran Dulac, Jeremy Knowles and A.J. Williams, along with junior Fran Rafferty.    Kahn and his staff have also added talent and depth with a crew of transfers and freshmen.

MIT tops the preseason poll after ending last season is in the Final Four.  Virginia Wesleyan, Wisconsin Whitewater, Middlebury and Amherst round out the top 5 slots.

The Cavaliers will open the 2012-13 campaign on November 16 when they face The Apprentice School in the opening  round of the Virginia Wesleyan Tip-Off Tournament.  With opening night victories, the Blue and White and Virginia Wesleyan could mark one of the season's best early games.
