Men's Soccer Suffers 1st CSAC Loss

ASTON, Pa. – The Cabrini College men's soccer team suffered its first loss in Colonial States Athletic Conference play, falling 2-0 at Neumann University.   The loss drops the Cavaliers to 2-1-1 in the CSAC and 4-6-2 overall.

The clubs played to a 0-0 tie after 45 minutes of action, as both teams tried to figure out the opposition.  Neumann created solid scoring chances, outshooting the Cavaliers 7-1 before the break.  Cabrini's junior goaltender Eric Nowicki was up to the task, recording a pair of first half saves.

The Knights continued to control the play in the second half as they outshot the Blue and White 14-2 in the second half.  Neumann finally broke through Cabrini's defense in the 68th minute when Caleb Clanton opened the scoring.  Clanton iced the game in the 78th minute with his second tally of the day.

Senior Kyle Johnson recorded all three of Cabrini's shots, forcing Neumann goalie Alex Lacko to save all three.

Nowicki also recorded three saves for the Cavaliers in the loss.

The Blue and White will return to action on Monday when they welcome the Rosemont College Ravens to Edith Robb Dixon Field.  Game time for the CSAC match is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
