#10 Men's Basketball Selected as CSAC Favorite

View CSAC Men's Basletball Preseason Poll

ASTON, Pa. – For the third consecutive season, the Cabrini College men's basketball team has been selected as the preseason favorite in the Colonial States Athletic Conference, according to the league's coaches.  The Cavaliers topped the preseason CSAC poll, the conference announced today.

The Blue and White captured nine of the 10 first place points and 95 points overall.  Gwynedd-Mercy College finished second with 88 points, six points ahead of Keystone College who claimed the remaining first place vote.

The Cavaliers are coming off the best season in school history.  Cabrini finished the 2011-12 campaign with the nation's best record at 31-2 and appeared in the school's first-ever NCAA Championship game.

Cabrini extended its home CSAC win streak to 45 games when it captured its third consecutive CSAC championship with an 86-79 win over Keystone.

Cabrini's fifth year head coach Marcus Kahn returns seven players from last year's, led by seniors Goran Dulac, Jeremy Knowles and A.J. Williams. Dulac posted 6.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.  Knowles garnered All-CSAC Second Team accolades after scoring 12.2 points, grabbing 5.1 rebounds and recording 1.5 steals per contest.  Williams will run the point after tallying 9.1 points per night last season.

Juniors Fran Rafferty and Jon Miller will look to improve a combined 13.7 points and 8.6 rebounds per contest from last season, while a talented and hungry group of underclassmen are prepared to contribute to another Cabrini championship run.

The Blue and White will also open the season ranked #10 by D3Hoops.com and #5 by DIII News.

The Cavaliers will open their season on Friday, November 16 when they face the Apprentice School in Virginia Beach, Va. in the Virginia Wesleyan Tip-Off Tournament.   A victory on opening night could set up an early top 10 meeting, as Cabrini could face #2 Virginia Wesleyan in Saturday's tournament championship.
