GWYNEDD-MERCY, Pa. – The Cabrini College softball team evened its record at 6-6 after today's doubleheader sweep at Gwynedd-Mercy College. The Cavaliers downs the Griffins 7-6 and 11-9.
The Blue and White wasted little time jumping on the Griffins in game one. Cabrini converted three doubles by senior
Sammy Thompson, senior
Angela Shookster and freshman Stephanie Diegel into three runs in the top of the first inning.
Cabrini's bats got hot again in the third inning as the freshman trio of Rebecca Miles, Diegel and
Lea Enoch each knocked in a run. The Blue and White led 6-0 in the middle of the third frame.
The Cavaliers extended their lead to 7-0 in the fourth inning when Thompson advanced to second on a throwing error, eventually scoring on a wild pitch.
The Griffins posted a run in the bottom of the fourth and three in the sixth. After scoring a pair in the bottom of the seventh, junior pitcher
Missy Miller shut the door on the Griffin.
Miller tallied the win, allowing six earned runs and striking out three batters. Diegel went 3-4 from the plate, knocking in a run. Miles added two hits and two RBI's in the win.
The Cavaliers replicated the early offense in game two, scoring four runs on five hits in the top of the first inning. Senior

After the Griffins plated three runs in the bottom half of the third, the Blue and White's offense was back at it. Cabrini extended its lead to 9-3 as Crist's two RBI double highlighted the Cavaliers' five run inning.
Back-to-back RBI doubles by Miles and Diegel in the top of the sixth inning gave Cabrini an 11-6 lead it would not relinquish. The Griffins rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh, but Crist managed to seal the win.
Crist evened her record at 3-3, striking out six in the complete game. Cabrini's offense posted 13 base knocks, including three each by Thompson and Miles. Miles and Crist also recorded three RBI's each.
The Blue and White will return to Cabrini Field on Monday when they host Valley Forge Christian College in a nonconference double dip. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
