Softball Shutout at Haverford

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Cabrini College softball team had its five game streak snapped today at Haverford College and the Cavaliers lost to the Fords 8-0 and 2-0.  The nonconference losses evened the Blue and White's record at 8-8.
The Cavaliers found themselves in an early hole as the Fords tallied six runs in the bottom of the first inning.  Starting pitcher Marcelle Crist lasted just two innings as Haverford extended its lead to 7-0 in the second.

Freshman Stephanie Diegel recorded Cabrini's only base hit in the opener.

Elizabeth Newman and Laura Iwanyk each tallied three hits for the Fords.

The second game of the double dip was a tight pitcher's duel.  The game remained scoreless until the Ford's posted runs in the decisive fifth and sixth innings.  

Cabrini posted just two hits, while striking out 10 times, behind starting pitcher Missy Miller.  Miller allowed one earned run on six hits in the loss.

Haverford (8-1-1) pitcher Claire Fitzgerald imporved to 4-0 wih the shutout.
 
The Cavaliers will return to Cabrini Field on Saturday when they host Cedar Crest College in CSAC action.  First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
