RADNOR, Pa. –
The Cabrini College softball team rallied to secure a split today against the visiting Delaware Valley College Aggies.  The Aggies took game one 3-2 in eight innings before the Cavaliers triumphed in the nightcap 5-3.

The Cavaliers celebrated the careers of their three seniors, Ryan McDonough, Angela Shookster and Sammy Thompson between today's games.  The Blue and White also presented flowers to DVC's quartet of seniors.

The Aggies opened the scoring with a run in their first at bat.

The Cavaliers evened the score in the bottom of the second inning as freshmen Rebecca Miles and Stephanie Diegel clubbed back-to-back doubles to left field.

The Blue and White took the lead in the third when Atzert hit her first career home run.

The Cavaliers had a chance to add to their lead in the fifth inning.  Cabrini had runners on second and third with just one out but failed to secure the big hit.

Three consecutive Delaware Valley singles in the top of the seventh led to the game-tying run.  The Aggies plated the game-winner in the top of the eighth but again the Cavaliers missed another scoring opportunity.

Atzert led the Cavaliers in the opener, going 3-3 including her solo home run.  Junior pitcher Missy Miller scattered 13 hits but allowed just two earned runs in the loss.

The Aggies took an early lead in game two as well, as sophomore Jackie Wear led off the game with the first of her two home runs in the game.

The Cavaliers immediately responded.  Thompson tripled down the right field line.  McDonough's squeeze bunt scored Thompson and evened the score at 1-1.

Delaware Valley regained the lead with a pair of runs in the top of the third inning.  Again, the Blue and White responded.

McDonough and Shookster drew walks to start the inning.   After an Aggies' pitching change, Miles' sacrifice bunt put McDonough and Shookster in scoring position with just one out.  Diegel's single to left center scored McDonough.

A Delaware Valley throwing error allowed junior pitcher Marcelle Crist to reach base as Shookster crossed the plate.  Freshman Lea Enoch singled to center to score Diegel and give the Cavaliers a 4-3 lead.

Diegel's team–leading fifth home run in the fifth inning sealed Cabrini's victory.

Diegel led the way with three hits and a pair of RBI's in the game two win.  Crist allowed just two earned runs on eight hits in recording the complete game victory.

Wear led the Aggies (12-15) with a combined 5-5 performance, with a pair of home runs and RBi's and four runs scored.

The Cavaliers (16-20, 10-8 CSAC) will return to conference play on Saturday as they travel to LaPlume, Pa. to face Keystone College in a CSAC doubleheader.  First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
