Koch Named Director of Athletics and Recreation

Brad Koch will oversee Cabrini's 16 NCAA sports and the school's recreation, club sport and intramural programs.
RADNOR, Pa. – Brad Koch has been named Director of Athletics and Recreation at Cabrini College.   For the past seven years, Koch has served as Associate Director of Athletics at Philadelphia University.  Koch will lead the Cavalier's 16 NCAA Division III athletic programs, which include over 250 student-athletes, and oversee the College's recreation and club sport activities.

“We are pleased and excited to welcome Brad to Cabrini College,” said Dr. Christine Lysionek, Cabrini's Vice President for Student Development.  “He brings experience, vision, enthusiasm and a strong commitment to excellence to the position.

"We are confident that the proud tradition of Cavalier athletics will continue to grow under his leadership and that our community will benefit considerably from his investment in providing them with a well-balanced slate of recreational opportunities.”

Koch moves to Cabrini after a 15-year stint at NCAA Division II Philadelphia University where he was responsible for all aspects of the University's Gallagher Athletic and Recreation Center, including programming, maintenance, scheduling and staff.

Koch also took an active role in the athletic department's fundraising initiatives, including coordinating sponsorships, the annual golf outing and various alumni functions.

Prior to being named Associate Director of Athletics, Koch spent three years as the Assistant Director of Athletics and Director of Recreation and Facilities.  During that time, he was active in developing the layout, programming and budget of the Gallagher Center.

Koch served as the athletic department's liaison to the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee for Physical Education.  Koch also spent three years as an adjunct sports management professor at Gwynedd-Mercy College.

“I am excited to be a part of what Cabrini College stands for and look forward to continued success with its intercollegiate athletics and the recreation program,” said Koch.

“It has been a pleasure working at Philadelphia University and I am grateful for my time there.  I will approach this position with the same mentality and vision - to help create student leaders and prepare them for purposeful lives in their careers and in the community.”

In 1997, Koch graduated from Allentown College, now DeSales University, with a bachelor's degree in sports management.  He completed a master's degree in business administration from Philadelphia University in 2003.

Koch and his wife Kim are parents to Caleb (3) and Rachel (9 months) and reside in Ambler, Pa.

Cabrini Athletics celebrated a banner year in 2011-12, including the men's basketball teams run to the NCAA Championship game, the celebration of seven All-American honorees and winning five Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) titles.  The Cavaliers have won 81 championships in the conference's 19-year history.
