Men's Soccer Tops Keystone 2-0

Box Score

RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini College men's soccer team improved to 2-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference today after topping the Keystone College Giants 2-0 at Edith Robb Dixon Field.  With the win, the Cavaliers have now won four of their last six matches.

Sophomore George Lambritsios marked the score sheet in the 16th minute with his third goal of the season.  Lambritsios collected a pass from fellow sophomore Christian Martin and slid the ball past Keystone's goaltender Dany O'Rourke.

The Blue and White carried the 1-0 advantage into the halftime break.  The Cavaliers controlled much of the play before the break, recording six shots to Keystone's one and dominating the corner kicks column 5-0.

Cabrini turned up the pressure in the second stanza, continuing to press for its second goal.  The Cavaliers certainly had their opportunities, posting nine second half shots and forcing O'Rourke to make four saves.

The Blue and White finally iced the game in the 82nd minute when sophomore Sean Neary beat a defender and rocketed a shot from about 20 yards into the net. The goal was Neary's first tally of the season.

Freshman Boomer Steigelman led the Blue and White with three shots on the day, while Lambritsios, Neary and senior Anthony Girolamo had two each.

Junior goaltender Eric Nowicki recorded his sixth career shutout as Cabrini's defense held strong keeping Keystone without a shot on goal.

The Cavalier will have a few days off before traveling to Gwynedd, Pa. to face the Gwynedd-Mercy Griffins on Wednesday.  Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the GMC Athletic Complex.
